  • A 1 from the direction of Kaiserslautern (about 1 ¼ hours)
  • A 1/A 48 from the direction of Coblenz (about 1 ¼ hours)
  • A 1/A 48 from the direction of Cologne (about 2 hours)
  • A 64 from the direction of Luxembourg (about 30 minutes)

along the Moselle:

By train

Many German cities offer direct railway connections to Trier. The modern InterCity trains provide comfortable travel to Trier without your having to change trains.

Besides the numerous direct trains, very good connections exist to Trier from the main railway stations in Coblenz, Saarbrücken, Luxembourg.

By bicycle

Many bicycle trails lead to Trier: you can reach Trier by bicycle through the charming landscapes of the Moselle, Saar, Sûre, and Kyll river valleys - mostly removed from road traffic.

Moselle Cycling Trail: from the direction of Coblenz going upriver via Cochem, Traben-Trarbach, Bernkastel-Kues, and Schweich

Moselle Cycling Trail: from the direction of Thionville (France) upriver via Konz

Saar Cycling Trail: from the direction of Saarbrücken via Mettlach and Saarburg

Sûre Cycling Trail: from the direction of Vianden via Echternach (Luxembourg)
